In 2020, Erin Powell became a COVID bride. With the ups and downs of planning a wedding, postponing, eloping, and postponing yet again, she knows first-hand that love really is all you need.

Like the many holidays that have come and gone in the last year, Valentine’s Day is going to look a little different this year. But if this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s how important it is to show the people you love how much you care.

Since this is the first (and hopefully last) Valentine’s Day during a pandemic, Erin came up with some fun, safe ideas for a romantic date-night-in in Hampton Roads.

Pick up a special arrangement for your special someone at a local florist

Valentine’s Day is for all things sweet. Stop by a local shop like Greenbrier Florist or Black Iris for a sweet-smelling bouquet of flowers sure to make anyone blush.

Not into flowers? Check out these candy baskets from the Royal Chocolate for your sweetheart instead.

Support a local business with dinner to-go

Take the guesswork out of dinner by ordering to-go from a local restaurant. On the peninsula, help Si Señor celebrate their one-year anniversary by stopping in for delicious authentic Mexican cuisine and Margaritas to-go.

On the southside, show the love with a heart-shaped pizza from Ynot. Order a 14″ or 18″ heart-shaped pizza and you’ll even get free mini pink Cannoli when you mention the code: YHSP2101 (while supplies last).

Start your evening with a toast to the one you love

Love is always brewing on Valentine’s Day. Make the most of it by joining a virtual beer tasting fundraiser hosted by Tidewater Youth Services and New Realm Brewery. New Realm’s staff will walk you through a tasting of 6 different styles of craft beers via a pre-recorded virtual tasting. You’ll also receive a swag bag with souvenir tasting glass, snacks, chocolate, raffle tickets, koozies, and more! This is a great way to sample a few brews while supporting at-risk and court-involved youth in the Tidewater Region.

End the night with a movie

When life gets in the way, it’s important to set aside time to just enjoy each other’s company. First, set the mood with smart home tech. With just the touch of a button you can dim the lights, lock the doors and turn down the temperature – perfect for cuddling on the couch.

By using Movies on Demand or streaming TV apps, you can get access to all the best rom-coms with your significant other.

Who says you need all the bells and whistles to show your loved ones how much you care? With the right people around you, love is all you need!
