Amber J. Lawson has used laughter as a coping mechanism in her personal life for a long time. She describes comedy as a “through line” in her life, and finds it of utmost importance to get rid of the stigma attached to mental health and wellness in the comedy scene.

When the global pandemic hit, Amber saw a large need for help and companionship in the comedy community, and Comedy Gives Back Laugh Aid was born. Comedy Gives Back Laugh Aid is exactly what it sounds like: comedians helping comedians!

Key Takeaways from Amber:

  • Why it is so important that there be a place for comedians to ask for support and help when they need it
  • More information about training they provide for comedy clubs, at festivals, etc as to how to spot someone who needs help, and also how to help them
  • How YOU or SOMEONE YOU KNOW can reach out for help
  • Information about grants that Comedy Gives Back is providing for comedians in need
  • All of the juicy details about the Comedy Gives Back Laugh Aid event at 5pm (Pacific time) on 4/3/21 on the Clubhouse app!
