It’s Dog Bite Awareness Week, and although we love our furry friends- we know that accidents can happen. But what happens after a dog bite incident occurs?
Friend of the show Attorney Nick Woodhouse from Huffman & Huffman stopped by the studio to tell us more about what to do if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation.
Attorney Woodhouse says the first thing you need to do if bitten by a dog that isn’t your own, is identify who the owner is. Find out their name and address is first and foremost.
Then, contact animal control or the police. If the injuries from the bite are significant enough, seek medical attention.
After you receive treatment, pick up the phone and call our friends at Huffman & Huffman. They are very experienced with dog bite cases, and can help ensure that you are compensated for your injury.
As a dog owner, it is your responsibility to have your animal under control. Keeping your dog on a leash is a great way to ensure you have control over the situation.
If you or one of your loved ones is involved in a dog bite incident, please call Huffman & Huffman and let their family, help yours.
