One of our favorite segments at Living 757, is our hometown hero segments. During these segments, we honor the people who are changing our communities for the better- out of the kindness of their own hearts!
For this segment, the Living 757 crew welcomes the founder of Blankets for the Homeless. Mariah Smith Friesz was born and abandoned on Christmas Eve many years ago.
She took tragedy and turned it into triumph, by starting a charity that provides blankets to the homeless here locally in Hampton Roads.
Homelessness in this area has grown exponentially, and Mariah and her organization provide necessities for the homeless here.
Some of the things the organization provides people with are: blankets, hoodies, jackets, sleeping bags, non-perishable food items and more.
Mariah is a new mom, and she really has a gift of taking negative situations and turning them into positives.
