Now that everyone is back in school, it’s a good time to talk about how to keep students safe. It’s not just parents and educators who play a crucial role in their safety. Drivers also have a significant responsibility to ensure the safety of students as they travel to and from school.
Friend of the show Attorney David Ratz from Huffman & Huffman joins Patricia and Quincy to talk about ways we can all help prevent unfortunate incidents.
The first thing to remember when it comes to back to school and being a safe driver is follow the speed limits! Remember to reduce your speed in marked school zones to 25mph, and always follow the speed limit of 25mph in residential areas too.
Distracted driving is always a problem on the roadways, but coupled with unpredictable students on the sidewalks and in the streets- it’s especially important to not be distracted while you’re driving.
School buses are picking up and dropping off students at bus stops throughout neighborhoods. As parents, make sure you educate your children on crosswalks, and safety when it comes to riding the bus. Also keep in mind that students wearing headphones will be less aware of oncoming vehicles.
If you are injured in an accident, make sure you contact Huffman & Huffman.
