A Hometown Hero After Loss

Sponsored by Bud's Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electric

The 757 is so lucky to have such an amazing military presence here in the area. Unfortunately, our freedom costs the ultimate price for some members of our armed forces. The families of the fallen are left to pick up the pieces, at a time when completing ordinary daily tasks seems impossible.

It’s a time where a “road map” could be invaluable to widowed spouses. That’s where Megan Buriak comes in!

hometown hero

Megan’s late husband James Buriak was born right here in Virginia. He was a naval aircrewman rescue swimmer who joined the US Navy in 2017. In late 2021, he passed away in a Naval helicopter crash off the coast of San Diego.

After his death, his wife Megan found out the hard way about dealing with the loss of a loved one in the line of duty. This is how she decided to start the AWS1 James Buriak Foundation.

foundation

The foundation provides pre-mishap programs, post-mishap programs, and a 90-day roadmap for anyone who has recently experienced a loss. This roadmap details how the 90 days post-loss will happen, what the families can expect, and more.
