It is important year round, but especially during the holidays to help out our furry friends! The ladies of Living 757 welcome Crystal Woody, the Head of Events for the Animal Aid Society to tell us how their no kill shelter is helping dogs!
The Animal Aid Society has been helping our furry pals for over 50 years! They are completely powered by volunteers and donations from the people living in the 757.
The holidays are the perfect time to adopt a dog! That is because people are home from work, school is out, sporting events and activities are on pause- there is much more time to get an animal acclimated to their new surroundings in your home.
Holidays can also be tough for some pets! Make sure to decorate with pet friendly decorations. If you are baking with chocolate, make sure children don’t have access to feed the dogs chocolate! And finally if you are entertaining, introduce guests to pets- and even provide a safe space for dogs to retreat if the dogs need to.
The process to adopt a dog from the Animal Aid Society is fairly simple! If you go to their website, www.animalaidsociety.org, you can browse through all of the available dogs there. If you see one that catches your eye, go meet him or her in person! The shelter is open 365 days a year, between 9am and noon.
If people want to help the Animal Aid Society- they always need both volunteers and donations! The shelter is especially in need of volunteers on Saturdays.
