It’s the Louisiana Class 5A Playoffs on Yurview, as #23 Denham Springs takes on #10 Hahnville in a First Round matchup on Friday November 10th at 6:30pm CT. The game can be seen on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications, and will also be streamed live on Yurview.com.
Since 2000 in 5A, on average, there are FOUR games each year in 1st round that are upsets (lower seed over higher seed)

Hahnville is been on an absolute tear for most of the season, and they haven’t lost in nearly two months. After losing two of their first three games, they’ve won seven straight, and none of them have really been close since a one-score win on September 22nd. They just won their first district title in five years.

The Tigers are doing it on both sides of the ball during their streak as well. Defensively, they’ve shutout their opponents in two of their past three games, and have held opponents to under two scores in six of their ten games. Offensively, they’ve scored 300 points during their 7 game winning streak.
Denham Looking to Bounce Back
This is Denham Springs second straight week on Yurview, after they ran into the buzzsaw that is Scotlandville last Friday. Scotlandville prevailed in a 50-27 game that saw Denham Springs bring in backup quarterback Luke Lunsford, who promptly threw two touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets have now lost three of the last four. With the playoffs here, they cannot afford another L.
Players to Watch
RB Anthony Williams – Hahnville
Have you seen his moves? “Pooka” has rushed for over 1,700 yards and has scored 25 total touchdowns.
Pooka Williams scored 3 TDs in Hahnville’s 49-0 win over HLB, but this punt return even with a penalty was the most impressive@laapookaaa pic.twitter.com/42x0E3Shf0

RB Tyre Golmond Jr. – Denham Springs
He’s the Yellow Jackets all-time leading rusher, and he put up 329 yards and three scores two weeks ago against Central. He’s got that confidence all great backs have.

QB – Jha’quan Jackson – Hahnville
The Class of 2019 product has already committed to play for Kansas, as a wide receiver, but he makes the throws and uses his athleticsm for Hahnville’s offense.
LB Elijah Tolliver – Denham Springs
He got Denham Springs’ defense off to a good start last week with an interception, however, they couldn’t convert offensively.
