Prebiotics and Probiotics Important for “Gut” Health

Naturopathic Dr. Emily Poccia of Wildcraft Medicine explains the importance of prebiotics and probiotics.

One of the most important things about good digestive health is having a diversity of bacteria and the proper amount in your stomach.

Probiotics help to feed the bacteria, while prebiotics help to feed the probiotics.

However, not everyone needs probiotic supplements in their diet. An overgrowth of bacteria can lead to symptoms such as gas, bloating and upset stomach. In that case, taking pre or probiotics can make those conditions worse.
