What does Telomerix Stem Cell Biobank do?

Telomerix Stem Cell Biobank specializes in processing and storing stem cells for families to use in the future if they are ever needed. Currently we are processing cord blood from the umbilical cord and placenta from babies at birth and store those cells for the baby or immediate family. Stem cells are the focus of many clinical studies for the cure of diabetes, stroke, autism and many more. They are a treatment for many blood disorders, metabolic disorders and cancer.

What sets you apart from the competition?

Telomerix is the first and only private stem cell bank in the state of Virginia. We also are partnered with Procreate Fertility Center. Procreate works to build families, while

Telomerix protects those families in the future. This is the only partnership of its kind in the country. We are also physicians owned and operated. We know what you need to have the best possible chance at a positive outcome for a disease that could threaten the health of your family.

 Where are you located?

We are located on Oak Grove Road in Chesapeake, VA.

 Can you share a brief history of your organization with us?

Telomerix opened in October of this year. We have been working to open this facility for almost two years now, making sure we have the best technology and methods to serve this community.

What is your slogan and why is it your slogan?

Preserving Today, Protecting Tomorrow. This slogan represents our mission to preserve stem cells for yourself or child to be used to treat any future diseases and improve quality of life.

Why did you get into this business?

After learning about the potential in stem cell, regenerative medicine, we knew that we had to bring this to our community.

What drives you to succeed?

Seeing how these cells are changing lives in trials and knowing they may be the future cure for many diseases that reduce our quality of life.

What’s the most important thing you do?

When storing a family’s stem cell product, I know how precious it is. In some cases, such as cord blood, they cannot be collected again. Safely processing and storing these products is the most important thing I do.

What do you love most about what you do?

Connecting with families and knowing of safe they feel with their cells stored here in VA.

What is your passion?

Protecting our families futures and giving our community access to this new age of medicine.  Knowing we are on the cutting edge of medicine and could change the future of the way we practice it. Also, giving families the opportunity to store these cells to protect them in the case they ever need them.

What impact (if any) does what you do have on the world and the people in it?

Stem cell research is the future of medicine. Current clinical studies and trials indicate these cells may be the cure for diseases that greatly affect our population such as diabetes and cancer. Storing these cells gives people access to these potential cures.

What is your inspiration for continuing every day?

Our inspiration to continue to build this facility is knowing that we can help people and these products are so important in the future of medicine.

What’s your primary goal when attracting new business?

Our primary goal is to connect with families and develop a relationship, so they are educated and excited about the opportunity to store their cells.
