Yukon Defeats Norman North On the Ground

The Yukon Millers and the Norman North Timberwolves played at Harve Collins Field in Norman Friday night.  It was a tight contest into the fourth quarter.

Norman North broke on top early.

Timberwolf quarterback Jackson Remauldo hit Chapman McKown down the line and Cameron turned, cut through a hole and sped 53 yards to make it 7-0. Norman North got a 34 yard field goal from Carter Blatt to make it 10-0.

Yukon lost starting running back Caden Hernandez to injury on a kick return. His replacement, Triston Brooke got Yukon on the board when he flipped into the end zone. Norman North had a 10-7 lead after a quarter.

In the second Norman North’s Gabe Trevillison scored on a 7 yard run that extend the Timberwolf lead back to 10 at 17-7. Yukon quarterback Brayden Dutton scored on a 6 yard keeper to pull the Millers within three at the half. Norman North led 17-14.

Yukon Runs it Back

But Yukon began to assert their running game in the third quarter. They got two more scores from Triston Brooke. His first was a 29 yard run and the other was 8 yards with less than two minutes left in the third. Yukon held a 27-17 lead going into the fourth.

Early in the fourth quarter Norman North’s Remauldo threw a nice pass to Luke Switzer in the corner of the end zone and Yukon’s lead was down to 27-24. Makari Slaughter returned the kickoff 71 yards and moments later it was Triston Brooke again, this time from 5 yards out. Yukon was back up by 10, 34-24.

Then on their next possession the Millers ate up 5 minutes and six seconds on a 74 yard drive. It was capped on a 3 yard touchdown run by Joe Wythe.

Yukon rushed for 401 yards and threw for none as they defeated Norman North 41-24.
