Bishop Sullivan Pulls Away in 2nd Half to Defeat Cheshire Academy

Coming into today’s contest, powerhouse Bishop Sullivan’s 4-4 record may have looked tarnished. But the Crusaders showed why they deserve national praise as they rolled over previously unbeaten Cheshire Academy 47-20 in this interstate matchup.

Bishop Sullivan Quarterback Tyler DeSue showed why they Maryland Terrapins will be excited to see him on campus next fall. The senior threw for five touchdowns and ran for another.

The Fighting Cats used two touchdowns by Chase Kinzly to take the early lead. Kinzly scored the game’s first TD on a 35-yard interception return and later in the quarter snared a 28-yard touchdown pass from Josh Comune. Joe Tacopina added both conversions and CA led 14-7.

But DeSue connected with three different receivers for scores to start the second quarter. CA countered with a 70-yard pass from Comune (7 for 18, 135 yards, 2 TDs) to Bryce Sebastian but DeSue threw for another score late in the quarter and Bishop Sullivan (5-4) was in command at halftime, 34-20. That was more than enough cushion for the Crusaders to secure the victory.
