Cheshire Academy vs Bishop Sullivan: What You Need to Know

Saturday brings high school football action to Yurview, as Bishop Sullivan plays host to Connecticut power Cheshire Academy. The game can be seen at noon ET on October 28th on Yurview Virginia for customers of Cox Communications and will also be streaming live on Yurview.com.

Spread Them Out

Cheshire Academy has been stellar on defense for most of the year, but face a different challenge against Bishop Sullivan. Not only will they be playing a true road game (5 hour trip), they’ll also face the spread offense employed by the Crusaders. After a tough 28-26 win last weekend against Canada’s Clarkson, they’re making the long trip to Virginia Beach on Friday ahead of the early start time on Saturday. Under those circumstances, Cheshire’s conditioning level will be put to the test. The Cats certainly know what they’re in for on Saturday.

About That Spread

While playing all sorts of competition from all over North America, it’s tough for any team to get a gauge on Bishop Sullivan. While they’ve scored only 22 points combined in their four losses, in their four wins they’ve scored 200 points more than that – 222 – for an average of 55.5 points per game. They had that much by halftime last week.

Their defense has been more consistent however. In six of the eight games, they’ve allowed 14 points or less. Cheshire will try to become the third team to put more than twenty points on the board vs the Crusaders, as the Cats average over 35 points per game during their 6-0 start to the season.

Players to Watch

CB Sheridan Jones – Bishop Sullivan

Big time Class of 2020 talent has Big Ten and ACC schools checking in on him nonstop, and for good reason.

DE/TE Malachi Burby – Cheshire Academy

The junior will continue his football career with the hometown UConn Huskies.

QB Tyler DeSue – Bishop Sullivan

The Maryland commit is a threat with his legs as well as his arm.

WR Bryce Sebastian – Cheshire Academy

Shades of Dion Lewis/Dante Hall shiftiness and elusiveness when he gets the rock.

LB Teradja Mitchell – Bishop Sullivan

He’s going to The Ohio State, and is an ESPN 300 prospect in the class of 2018.

WR Armani Chatman – Bishop Sullivan

He’s staying home to play for the Hokies. Watch out for him on defense as well, as he can take a pick-six in if Cheshire isn’t too careful.
