A pair of 4-1 teams, Millard South and Elkhorn South, will square off in what will be one of the best matchups of the weekend in Nebraska. Both teams went to the playoffs last season, but each program would prefer to play even deeper into the season this year.
The game will be broadcast live on Yurview Omaha for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.
Perennial Power against Rising Program
After several non-winning seasons, Millard South made the playoffs and went 6-5 last year, recording its first winning season since 2012. Starting this season 4-1, Millard South is looking to return to where they were about 10 years ago. From 2008-12, Millard South went 50-13.
About five years ago, Elkhorn South was right where Millard South is now — on the rise. Actually, Elkhorn South was once in much worse shape when the program went 0-9 in 2010. But they have constantly improved under coach Guy Rosenberg, and since 2015, Elkhorn South has submitted a 40-3 record.
This contest between a great program and another program on the verge of greatness should be a real dandy.
Players to Watch
DT Kohl Herbolsheimer – Millard South
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Herbolsheimer plays both defensive tackle and left tackle for Millard South. Omaha.com ranked him the No. 6 Nebraska prospect in the 2019 class.
RB Isaiah Harris – Millard South
Harris is a 5-foot-8 running back who also possesses strong receiver and return skills. Omaha.com ranked him the No. 13 Nebraska recruit in the 2019 class.
OL Teddy Prochazka & Isaac Zatechka – Elkhorn South
These two players are still only sophomores, but Omaha.com included both of these linemen on its Top Nebraska Recruits watch list for the 2021 class. Together, Prochazka and Zatechka set the tone for the Elkhorn South offense and will do so for the next two years as well.
