Friday brings another marquee matchup to Yurview, as the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets will take on Scotlandville Hornets in a high school football tilt between bees. The game can be seen on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications at 6:30pm CT on November 3rd and will also be streaming live at Yurview.com.
Back on Track
Scotlandville has cruised through most of the season, however, their only loss came last week against Zachary. They’ll be looking to right the ship offensively, as it was the first time this season they were held under 25 points. A loss isn’t always a bad thing in the the big picture, but it’ll be interesting to see how the Hornets bounce back.
Denham Springs, on the other hand, seemed to get their momentum back last week, as they prevented a three-game losing streak with a win. They had rattled off five straight wins, before losing to that same Zachary team that just beat Scotlandville, and Live Oak. Last week, they topped rival Central 354-6 in wet and sloppy conditions.

Bigtime Baller
Kelvin Joseph is a defensive back for the Hornets, but he’s much more than that. The Class of 2018 product was just presented with his Army All-American jersey, and he’s a senior leader for Scotlandville Magnet.

On the field, he can pretty much do anything, and has, this season. Kick returns, punt returns, interceptions…if he’s on the field he’s a threat to score. The #35 recruit in the country according to ESPN, he recently picked up offers from Oregon and Auburn after decommitting from LSU. His classmate at Scotlandville, Ja’Vonte Smart, just committed to LSU to play point guard for Will Wade and the Tigers’ basketball team.
Run Heavy Approach
One way to limit the impact Joseph can have defensively on the game? He’ll still come up and tackle, but the formula is simple…run the ball, then run it some more. That’s exactly what the Yellow Jackets did last week, throwing it only ten times, although wet conditions might have contributed to the run/pass disparity. It also helps when you get three touchdown runs of more than 50 yards, as Denham got with Tyre Golmond Jr., and play from ahead.
Players to Watch
CB Kelvin Joseph – Scotlandville
He’ll play college football anywhere he wants, and with good reason.
RB Tyre Golmond Jr. – Denham Springs
He’s the Yellow Jackets all-time leading rusher, and he put up 329 yards and three scores just last week vs. Central.
RB Trenton Charles – Scotlandville
Stopping him before he can turn on the jets is imperative for any defense.

DB Dorian Camel – Scotlandville
The other gifted playmaker in Scotlandville’s secondary, and you can see why Denham will want to run the rock.
LB Elijah Tolliver – Denham Springs
He’ll be key to stopping Charles early and often and getting the Hornets back on offense.
