Omaha Westside vs. Creighton Prep

While this meeting isn’t coming on opening weekend this season, Creighton Prep and Omaha Westside are ready to renew their highly competitive series this week. Both programs are looking to build upon last year’s playoff runs and advance to the Nebraska Class A championship game.

The game will be broadcast live on Yurview for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.

Evenly matched high school football series

In 2015, Omaha Westside completely embarrassed Creighton Prep, 41-0, but Creighton Prep has rebounded nicely against its fellow Class A foe to win the last two matchups.

That has evened the series during the regular season, 4-4, since 2010. They also met in the 2013 quarterfinals, where Omaha Westwide won. Including the playoffs, Omaha Westwide holds a narrow, 5-4, edge this decade.

These two programs nearly met in the playoffs again last season. Had Omaha Westside beaten Kearney, then they would have squared off against Creighton Prep in the Class A semifinals. Creighton Prep also lost to Kearney, who fell short in the championship against Omaha North.

Omaha Westside remains undefeated heading into this week at 4-0. Creighton Prep sits at 3-1, having lost to Lincoln two weeks ago.

Players to Watch

FB Luke Sims – Creighton Prep

Mike Sautter of Omaha.com ranks Sims, who plays both fullback and defensive end, the No. 13 Nebraska recruit in the 2019 class.

After a monster junior season, Sims has 116 yards from scrimmage in four games this season.

RB Avante Dickerson – Omaha Westside

The sophomore is so fast, fans will have to watch closely, or they won’t see him run by. Dickerson scored two touchdowns against Lincoln Southwest and then ran for a 35-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the rout against Gretna.
