By Rachelle McCray

Summer break is fast approaching and the kiddos will be looking for fun and entertainment. What better way to kick off the summer than with a family vacation. We’ve rounded up three hot spots for your family so you can get out of the heat and create summer memories to last a lifetime.

SEDONA {Distance: 115 miles north; approximately a two-hour drive}

WHAT WE LIKE: Sedona is the perfect escape when the temperatures rise. Famous for it’s beautiful red rock, hiking trails, world renowned Pink Jeep Tours, and star gazing potential, you will find plenty to do and see for any member of your fam. Customize your trip by planning in advance. Try downloading the Sedona Hiking app for the outdoor enthusiasts in your group, or, catch a trolley instead of a pink jeep tour and take in all the sites of Sedona. Enjoy great food and atmosphere with the family at Tlaquepaque and camp creekside in Oak Creek Canyon.

DON’T MISS: Slide Rock State Park. A natural “waterpark” that offers camping opportunities, the perfect place to picnic, or just cool off in the water of Oak Creek Canyon.

SAN DIEGO {Distance: 356 miles west; approximately a five-hour drive}

WHAT WE LIKE: One of the most popular destinations in the world, San Diego, is a place you can visit over and over again. With beautiful weather year round, activities are endless for both kids and adults alike. Head to beautiful beaches like Del Mar that include gorgeous seaside accommodations, or ride the roller coaster at Mission Beach. If you want to take advantage of being seaside, plan a whale watching trip or fit in a few surf lessons. Enjoy a game at the ballpark downtown and then head out for the best nightlife southern California has to offer at the Gaslamp Quarter. Visit the popular Coronado Island and stay at the famous Hotel Del Coronado where you can enjoy high tea and an unbeatable spa.

DON’T MISS: Old Town Trolley Tours or San Diego Seal Tours. Both offer fun and unique experiences for all ages.

LAS VEGAS {Distance: 296 miles north; approximately a 4.5-hour drive}

WHAT WE LIKELas Vegas offers a mix of fun for both adults and kids of all ages. Take a daring tour through Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef or pack on the thrills at the Adventure Dome located behind the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. Tempt your sweet tooth with a visit to the M&M’s factory, or share a sweet treat at Sugar Factory Fashion Show. Stay at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino where the kids can enjoy the Hollywood themed decor and access to the monorail, which can take your family up and down the strip. Plus, you won’t want to miss spending a day poolside floating in their lazy river and enjoying burgers and fries from their cabana grill.

DON’T MISS: Taking in a family friendly show like Blue Man Group at the Luxor, or catch the Tournament of the Kings at Excalibur Hotel.

With so many options, we can hardly wait to get to planning. Time to pack our bags and hit the road!
