For the first time since 2008-2009, the Fighting Irish didn’t make the NCAA Tournament in 2017. Coach Mike Brey has assembled a talented group of freshmen to help change that led by Northfield Mount Hermon’s Nate Laszewski.

Basketball analyst and The Upside host Adam Finkelstein watched Nate at the National Prep School Invitational and broke down a player with an impressive combination of size and skill that’s evident in this video:
“Nate Laszewski was one of the hottest players in the entire country last summer. He had recruitment from all kinds of high majors, blue bloods included, and ultimately decided on Notre Dame.”
“He’s your prototypical face up four man who is every bit of 6’9” and can really shoot at a high level from behind the three point line. He’s going to have immediate value as someone who can space the floor and open up the court for the guards of Notre Dame to make plays.”
“When you start thinking about his long-term potential, that combination of size and skill is extremely rare. I wouldn’t even be shocked if he saw some time at the five for Notre Dame, a program that’s been known to play some small ball with another local product Bonzie Colson graduating from that spot this year.”
