Liberty Upsets Red Mountain in 6A Title-Game Rematch

With a loss to Chandler in the rearview, Liberty came together as a team to upset Red Mountain Friday night on the road 30-0.

This is the first time Red Mountain has been held scoreless since 2010 – a 113 game streak.

Both Naz Bryant and George Ramirez contributed to the Mountain Lions’ run stats, but penalties prevented the team from capitalizing on those yards.

An early Liberty turnover also failed to yield results for Red Mountain after the Lions defense made a timely stop.

A Shane Pitts field goal got Liberty on the board with 3 points in the second quarter, opening up scoring for the Lions.

Liberty QB Brock Mast had a great night through the air and on the ground, hooking up with Grant Brunelle to set up a score and passing for touchdowns to Jordon Guevara and Sam Wolfer.

WR Cailin Knapp contributed two TDs on the night, both times as the Wildcat QB.

Jax Stam, Shane Pitts and Isaiah Johnson made the plays that saved the day for the Lions defense.

Both teams end the night 1-1.
