Hometown Heroes interviews Master Police Officer Marie Carr, who is currently assigned to Kempsville Middle School as their School Resource Officer. Her mission is to keep the students and faculty safe, and to keep the school crime free.

Officer Carr chose to overcome her rough past and give back to the community. She is a wonderful example of someone who takes what they are given and rises above it to change the world for the better. She even has custody of her three grandchildren and cares for them. Officer Carr is around kids at home and at school and she recognizes that kids are the future and that their safety is important.

Don’t assume she isn’t tough either! Physical fitness is a large part of her job and she takes it very seriously. She took up kickboxing to maintain her strength and she makes sure to go to the shooting range regularly.
