Season Review

We kick off the season with the Highway 97 Rivalry. 2 schools separated by 10 miles and a long history of heated games: 5A Sapulpa, led by 2-way star Marco Smith, will seek revenge against a Sand Springs team that reached the semi-finals in class 6AII last year.

The next three weeks: Union will battle neighbors Broken Arrow, then go to Jenks in the annual Mid First Bank Backyard Bowl, and finally play against Owasso. All of those teams are loaded with Division 1 talent, and to make the matchups even more intriguing, several key players on both sides of the ball have moved from one of those schools to another.

As we cruise through the season, there will be a big 5A showdown with Sapulpa and Coweta. The Tigers will be strong again this year and hope to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Muskogee has a ton of talent including one of the best young quarterbacks in the state Junior Jamarian Ficklin. They will face an always dangerous Booker T. team, that is tradition rich with 9 state championships.

Bixby is stacked and primed for another state title run. Coach Loren Montgomery has a bunch of talent on both sides of the ball and will be hunting his 10th state title in the last 11 years.

Tune in every Friday night on Yurview for heated rivalries, great plays and the best in Oklahoma High School Football.
