Jenks Improves Playoff Position with Win Against Westmoore

The Jenks Trojans traveled to Moore Schools Stadium to take on the Westmoore Jaguars in a battle for playoff position Thursday night. Jenks was in second place in the 6A I District 1 with a 4-0 mark, just behind first place Edmond Santa Fe which has a 5-0 record. The Jaguars were in a third place tie with Broken Arrow, as both teams are 3-2 in district play going in to this last week of regular season competition.

The Trojans lead with defense

On Westmoore’s first possession, Jayden Patrick intercepted a Dayton Wolfe pass and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown to put Jenks on top 7-0.  Westmoore fought back.  Dayton Wolfe connected with Ja’Quan Richardson on a 20 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7.

Jenks came right back and scored on a 29 yard touchdown pass from Stephen Kittleman to Jayden Patrick, and Jenks led 14-7 after one quarter.

In the second quarter Westmoore tied the score at 14 when Dayton Wolfe hooked up with Ethan Lawrence on a 40 yard touchdown pass.

When Jenks got the ball back, Stephen  Kittleman scrambled out of pressure and found Jayden Patrick. He took the ball 65 yards to the end zone to make the score 21-14 in favor of Jenks. Jenks scored twice more in the second quarter on a 6-yard touchdown run by Griffin Forbes and a 2-yard scoring run by Grant Lohr. At the half, Jenks led by a score of 35 to 14.

In the third quarter Grant Lohr scored twice on runs of 50 yards and 1 yard to extend the Jenks lead to 49-14.

The Jaguars threatened in the fourth quarter when Westmoore’s Zane Chavez threw a nice 38 yard touchdown pass to Xavier Williams after an intercepted Jenks pass, but it was more roar than bite.

Jenks defeats Westmoore 49 to 21. The Trojans improve to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in their district.  The Jaguars fall to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in district play.
