In their first meet up and the Parkview Homecoming game, the Parkview Baptist Eagles held out against the Southern Lab Kittens.
While Southern Lab managed to score the first touchdown of the game, the Eagles came back to score two touchdowns and a 23 yard field goal by the end of the first half. The Parkview defense had two interceptions at the half. Defenses and penalties prevented any scores during the third quarter, but in an eventful fourth quarter the Kittens reclaimed their lead over the Eagles. Parkview came back to score the winning touchdown with 1:44 left in the fourth quarter. The final score was 23-20.
The first quarter started strong with a Kittens’ touchdown by Tyrion Davis, his first of three throughout the night. The second quarter trick play by Eagles’ quarterback Alexander Aucoin resulted in a connection with Kyle Washington. The flea flicker was named play of the game. In the second quarter, Parkview also scored a 23 yard field goal.
Penalties and turnovers dug Southern Lab into a hole through the second and third quarter. Two more touchdowns by Davis allowed them to reclaim their lead. Soon after, Eagles’ running back Dustin Philippe scored one of his two touchdown runs, taking back the Parkview lead. The Kittens threatened the Parkview lead up until the last minute of the game, when a quarterback error resulted in the end of the game.
Player of the Game
The Kittens’ Tyrion Davis had a huge impact on the game for Southern Lab. Davis scored three touchdown runs. Though the second and third quarters brought penalties and turnovers for Davis, he scored two of those touchdown runs in the second half. Additionally, Davis, along with teammate Mitchell Turner Jr., ran over one hundred yards throughout the game. Davis’ runs made up nearly half of the team’s 276 rushing yards during the game.
