Saturday morning brings more high school football on Yurview, as Clark takes on Sierra Vista. Both teams enter the game with identical 2-1 records, making it a pivotal early season matchup. The game can be seen on Yurview Las Vegas for customers of Cox Communications, and will also be streamed live on Yurview.com on September 22nd at 11:00am PT.
Clark Picks the Right Guy
The Chargers, who were a state power in football back in the 1970’s, have been an afterthought the last few seasons while Bishop Gorman has taken on the role of Nevada powerhouse. After a 1-8 record a year ago, Clark brought in Ricky Pickens from California as their head coach, and the results have been outstanding. After a one point loss in their opener to Boulder City, 34-33, they’ve won two straight, including a 36-0 white washing of Desert Oasis last Friday. Still in September, they’ve already doubled their win total from all of last season.

Committee vs Workhorse
John Foss’ Mountain Lions want to ground and pound their way down the field, and they’ve done a good job of that so far. They’re averaging over 350 yards per game rushing. They’ve also got a few backs to give it to; after senior Bryan Lagrange and his 244 yards/3 touchdowns went down with an injury, Foss gave the rock to Isaiah Zavala who ran for 134 yards on only 16 carries. They had 319 yards total on the ground last week in their 41-0 win over Spring Valley.
Congrats to Coach Foss and the Real SV for a dominating 41-0 win last night. Our kids showed class in a big win for our school. #wearevista pic.twitter.com/kZqwp9QUWW

Clark, meanwhile, is led by senior running back Aquantay Morris, a four year starter. He’s a threat to go all the way every time he touches the rock, which includes catching it out of the backfield. He’s got 250 yards both rushing and receiving, to go along with 8 total touchdowns.
Contrasting Styles
Although they’re led by a running back, Clark wants to go uptempo and put the onus on the defense to keep up. Sierra Vista would like nothing more than to methodically rush their way up the field and control the clock, especially if they get a lead.
Players to Watch
RB Aquantay Morris – Clark
He’s the leading scorer in Nevada so far on the season.
S Kevin McCray – Sierra Vista
A safety with college potential, McCray leads a secondary that has three interceptions on the season.
DB Isaiah Veal – Clark
Leads a ball hawking Clark defense with five interceptions on the season, three of them coming against Desert Oasis.
