Cox Communications has been serving the Roanoke community for over 40 years! On this segment of “Spotlight On…”, Cox Celebrates 40 years in Roanoke and is spending its anniversary by investing even more in the community it serves.
The 40th Anniversary Celebration took place at the Roanoke Valley Greenways. The Greenways are miles of pathways throughout the Roanoke Valley. It’s used by citizens for outdoor activities such as running, biking and hiking. Jeff Merritt, Market Vice-President for Cox Roanoke used the opportunity to celebrate Cox serving Roanoke for 40 years. He announced that Cox is launching “40 Days of Giving”. It’s an opportunity to give back to the community by donating to charitable organizations around the Roanoke area. Merritt says during the past 40 years, Cox has given over 25 million dollars in cash and in-kind back to the community.
As part of “40 Days of Caring”, Cox made a $10,000 contribution to Roanoke Valley Greenways to help their efforts to build and expand upon a fantastic resource for the entire valley. Kemper Fant, President of Pathfinders for Greenways says he loves it that businesses like Cox are part of the community, and he appreciates them wanting to be a part of and promote programs like Greenways. Fant say support from Cox helps keep the Greenways “as good as it can possibly be”.
President of Cox Communications, Pat Esser was on hand for the 40th Celebration and thanked all the customers for their support and for allowing Cox to be a part of the Roanoke story for the last 40 years.
Merritt summed up the event saying it’s been “40 great years and more to come”. Cox will continue with new product innovations and investments for customers. He loves the fact that employees are part of the community, and Cox will continue to participate with charitable organizations and be a part this great valley.
