Fasten your seat belts. The Omaha North-Omaha Burke rivalry matchup is always a great one, but this year’s showdown will include a little extra intrigue since Omaha North knocked off Burke on its way to the Class A state championship last season.
The game will be broadcast live on Yurview for Cox Communications customers and will also stream live on Yurview.com.
So we meet again
These two rivals meet every year and usually put on a show. Just a single point has decided two of the last four meetings in the series, including last year’s Class A semifinals matchup. Burke last beat Omaha North, 52-51, in double overtime during the 2015 season.
Burke lost just three games last season, two of which came at the hands of Omaha North. At 3-0, Burke is off to a fast start seeking to get even further in the playoffs this year.
Burke has won its three games by an average of 22 points, including a 31-14 win over Millard West.
Omaha North’s title defense is off to a rocky start. Although they beat Omaha Northwest during Week 2 in a blowout, 46-6, they have also lost to Creighton Prep and Millard West. Omaha North enters this week at 1-2 one season after going 12-1.
