Hendricken’s Peer Ministry Stresses The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Peer Ministry is comprised of a select group of seniors.

Bishop Hendricken Student / Athlete Brandyn Durand is involved in baseball. football, indoor and outdoor track. With all this plus a heavy academic load, one would think Brandyn would have little time to reflect upon life’s deeper issues. Hardly the case.

Brandyn is involved in the Peer Ministry program which is part of the Campus Ministry.

Peer Ministry is comprised of a select group of seniors who assist the Campus Ministry in running student retreats, leading student orientations, setting up Masses and prayer services, and serving as mentors to underclassmen.

Peer Ministers are selected after completing an application, obtaining a recommendation from their parish pastor, and often interviewing with Campus Ministry. Each year, roughly 25 dedicated students are chosen to minister to their peers in this special role.

For Brandyn, peer ministry is a chance to work with others to help them better both  themselves and himself as well, and to help them find who they are. As he states, “If you’re not a good person, it’s all for nothing.”
