West Feliciana Advances to Championship With Big Win Over Jennings

In the semifinals, Jennings High met West Feliciana High in St. Francisville. The game started with a Jennings Bulldogs touchdown with 6:50 left in the first quarter. With 6:38 left, the West Feliciana Saints answered to tie the score 7-7. In the second quarter, the Saints took the lead 14-7 with 11:57 left on the clock. Additionally, the Bulldogs landed a score with 1:38 left in the first half. At the half, the score was 14-13. West Feliciana lead Jennings in rushing yards, with 148 to their 95. Jennings, however, lead in passing yards, with 40 to their 5. As soon as the second half had started, the Saints had run in another touchdown with 11:35 left in the third quarter. Within the minute, they’d struck again, landing another touchdown and bringing the score to 28-13. The Bulldogs fired back, scoring a touchdown with 3:25 left in the third quarter. The Saints responded with a field goal. The third quarter ended with a score of 31-20. In the fourth quarter, the Saints ran in another touchdown with 4:59 left in the game. With 3:05 left, the Bulldogs narrowly caught a touchdown pass, bringing the score to 31-26. West Feliciana ran in the final touchdown of the night with 2:07 left in the game. The final score was 45-26. The West Feliciana Saints head to the Superdome for finals, as the Jennings Bulldogs’ season comes to a close.

West Feliciana running back Davon “Smoke” Harris lived up to his nickname tonight when he completed an eighty yard kickoff return!

Player of the Game

West Feliciana senior quarterback Derek Turner was on fire tonight! He alone made up 211 of the Saints’ 287 rushing yards. Additionally, Derek Turner was responsible for two of the five Saints touchdowns.
