While summer comes to an end this month and fall begins, it is still going to feel like summer here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas. Don’t let the fall display at the Bellagio Conservatory, which changes from its summer to fall theme after the first week of the month, fool you. While you may be able to find some pumpkin spice cocktails, the leaves here are not changing colors, and it is still hot here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas.
The average daily temperature typically falls in the mid-90’s; however, we can still get those triple digit days and even dip into the 80’s. In the evenings, expect a break from the heat, with temperatures cooling off into the 70’s. This is also the last guaranteed full month of Vegas pool season, as the majority of pools begin closing in October. Monsoon season also typically wraps up in mid-September, so keep in mind that we can still experience thunderstorms and flooding.
Now after the slower month of August, September is certainly bringing back the action to Vegas. Typically, September kicks off Music Festival Season here in Vegas; however, this year there’s only one big one and that’s the iHeart Radio Music Festival, which will be held at T-Mobile Arena September 19th and 20th. This is a huge event, and visitors can expect it to be quite busy on the southern end of the Strip.
Life is Beautiful used to take place during this same weekend across Downtown Las Vegas; however, the festival was cancelled due to a decrease in attendance. You can expect quite the celebration to kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month, with a variety of musicians and comedians traveling into town. The Vegas Golden Knights are kicking off their pre-season and this is a very affordable way to catch a hockey game in Las Vegas. Even if you don’t attend the game, you certainly want to catch the pre-game procession, which happens approximately an hour before the game. The procession takes place in The Park outside of New York New York, and you can enjoy the cheerleaders and the band as they make their way to T-Mobile Arena. It is a lot of fun and it’s free!
While they’ve been playing all summer long, the two-time WNBA Champions, the Las Vegas Aces are finishing up their season. The Aces play at both Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay and T-Mobile Arena. These games are a lot of fun and very affordable for a sporting event in Vegas.
Our minor league baseball team, the Las Vegas Aviators are also still in town this month out at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin. This is located right across from Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa, which is a Stations Casino property. Currently, all Stations casinos are offering $1.99 margaritas!
