Spanish Professor Tina Pena Helping Newcomers Become Part of the Community

Tina Pena is a Spanish professor at Tulsa Community College. She is on the Governor’s Task Force for the Advancement of Hispanic Students in Higher Education, 2016 Governor’s Arts Award recipient for individual service in the Oklahoma arts community, and 2015 recipient of the United Nations of Oklahoma’s Human Rights Award.

Tina Pena has been teaching for 25 years and helping newcomers become part of the community.

September 15th to October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage month. The month is observed and celebrated by honoring the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
