GameTime and the Ford Game of the Week are back with six high school football matchups including the #22 ranked team in the country taking on a tough foe. Here are the scheduled games for this week:
- Bixby Spartans vs Choctaw YellowJackets (Oklahoma)
- St. Thomas More Cougars vs Westgate Tigers (Louisiana)
- Mustang Broncos vs Union High School (Oklahoma)
- Desert Edge Scorpions vs Cactus Cobras (Arizona)
- Omaha Benson vs Omaha Bryan (Omaha, NE)
- Garden City Buffaloes vs Wichita East Blue Aces (Kansas)

Oklahoma high school football: Bixby Spartans vs Choctaw Yellowjackets – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm CT.
Perhaps the most anticipated game of the year is Friday’s Ford Game of the Week – a rematch of last year’s 6A-II state championship between #1 Bixby Spartans (5-0) vs. the #2 Choctaw YellowJackets (4-1).
The Spartans are on a whopping 41-game winning streak, including the only two times they’ve played the Yellowjackets. All eyes will be watching this critical Week 6 matchup for what is likely a playoff preview.
Bixby’s offense has dominated every opponent in the air (QB Christian Burke has thrown for 1,128 yards and 15 TDs) and on the ground (Braylin Presley has rushed for 850 and 10 TDs). Tight end Luke Hasz (TE) is committed to Oklahoma and WR Dylan Hasz has also received interest from the Sooners. And yes, they are twin brothers and members of the class of 2023.

But Senior DL/LB DeSean Brown and the Choctaw defense could very well break that down, and Junior QB Steele Wasel (900 yards passing and 14 TDs) and the Yellowjacket offense is strong as well. BUT ALSO… Bixby’s defense has a knack for stopping Choctaw.
Both teams have impressive playmakers on offense, for sure. But past meetings may indicate an impressive battle of defenses that you won’t want to miss.

Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 – Oklahoma Ford Game of the Week
Oklahoma High School Football: Mustang Broncos vs Union High School – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm CT.
The Ford Game of the Week returns Friday night with an important 6A-I District 2 matchup between the Mustang Broncos vs. Union High School.
Mustang and Union are 2-0 in district play and chasing the surprising 5-0 Moore Lions. Both teams will have a crack against the Lions, so the winner of this game puts their team in a great position to compete for the district title.
Mustang has scored at least 48 points in four of its five games, but Union is only allowing 16.8 points. The top players for Mustang are WR/DB Jacobe Johnson and Oregon commit TE Andre Dollar.
In last year’s game, Union Sr. RB Rovaughn Banks rushed for 165 yards in a 66-10 lopsided win. Other top players for Union are CB and Oklahoma commit Jayden Rowe and DL De’Marion Thomas and Matthias Roberson.

Arizona high school football: Desert Edge Scorpions vs Cactus Cobras – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm MT (9:00 pm CT).
This Friday night on GameTime in Arizona, it’s a battle of high-powered offenses as the 4A #1 Cactus Cobras take on 5A #3 Desert Edge Scorpions
Cactus enters the game undefeated at 5-0 but face perhaps their most difficult challenge against a 4-1 Scorpions team that only lost by one point to undefeated 5A #2 Horizon.

The Cobras offense is a scoring machine, putting up over 50 points in all five games. QB Will Galvan broke a school record last week with 7 TD passes.
The Scorpions are averaging over 40 points of offense per game. Quarterback and Washington State commit Adryan Lara threw for 6 TDs last week and has 104 in his high school career. The Scorpions offensive line is led by Michigan State commit Gavin Broscious.

⭐ Arizona Schedule: Nationally Ranked Teams Highlight 2021 Arizona GameTime Schedule
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2021 – Louisiana GameTime
Louisiana high school football: St. Thomas More Cougars vs Westgate Tigers – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm CT.
St. Thomas More Cougars (2-3) are looking to get back on track when they begin 4A District 5 play against the 4-1 Westgate Tigers Friday night on GameTime.
St. Thomas More has played a brutal non-district schedule, losing to unbeaten Madison Prep and Alexandria. The Cougars will also be without star quarterback and LSU commit Walker Howard.
Westgate enters the game ranked #3 in Class 4A. Tigers Safety Derek Williams is a 4-star recruit for the Class of 2023. He has offers from Alabama, LSU, and Florida to name a few. Tight end Danny Lewis is a 3-star recruit as he heads into his senior season. Lewis has committed to play at Cincinnati.

⭐ Louisiana Schedule: 2021 Louisiana GameTime High School Football Preview
Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 – Omaha GameTime
Omaha, Nebraska high school football: Omaha Benson Bunnies vs Omaha Bryan Bears – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm CT.
Omaha Benson (3-3) takes on Bryan (0-6) in a Class A District 6 conference game Friday night on GameTime. Both teams are looking to snap their losing streaks with a first conference win of the season. Both teams, no doubt, are hopeful that a win this week will turn their season around.
The Bunnies from Benson have gone scoreless their last two games (vs. Grand Island and Norfolk before that). But they’re certainly capable of getting in the end zone, thanks to some big plays from Junior QB Brandon Ashley. If they can control their turnovers, look for a good show.
Bryan, who has been shut out three times this season, has struggled on both sides of the ball. They’ll need to step up their defense against a capable Bunnies offense looking to get some points on the board.

⭐ Omaha Schedule: 2021 Omaha GameTime High School Football Preview
Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 – Kansas GameTime Matchup
Kansas high school football: Garden City Buffaloes vs Wichita East Blue Aces – Friday, October 8 at 7:00 pm CT.
The Garden City High Buffaloes (4-1) travel to Wichita to take on the Wichita East Blue Aces (2-3) for a Friday night matchup on GameTime.
The Buffaloes are on a 4-game winning streak, blanking their Western Athletic Conference rival Liberal 49-0 last week to remain first in their league. Their run game is solid and they spread the ball well – last week six different Buffaloes scored TDs on the ground.
But on defense, they’ll have to deal with the Aces’ dual-threat QB, Sophomore Daeonte Mitchell, who is sure to keep them on their toes.
Wichita East has been hot and cold this season with blowout wins and losses. Watch for the dynamite combo of Mitchell and Senior WR Caquoy Patterson, whose connections often make the highlight reels.
