Ford Flashback: Sapulpa Legend Johnny Bilby Builds a Life in His Hometown

The Battle for Creek County once was a fierce rivalry between Bristow and Sapulpa. Their 1990 game featured some slick passing by the Sapulpa Chieftains’ quarterback Johnny Bilby, who would go on to play at Pittsburg State University in Kansas where he won the 1991 Division II National Championship before returning to his hometown to go into education.

Now, Bilby is the Assistant Superintendent for Sapulpa and has two children and two grandchildren after marrying his high school sweetheart. He’s been a true Sapulpa Chieftain lifer.
