URI Women’s Basketball Beats Richmond 70-56, Alive for A-10 Tournament Double-Bye

The University of Rhode Island Women’s Basketball continued their best season in recent memory, topping the Richmond Spiders 70-56 at the Ryan Center. The win moves Rhody ahead of Richmond into a coveted top 4 spot in the standings, with a chance to earn a double-bye in the Atlantic 10 tournament with a victory over VCU on Sunday.

After a back-and-forth battle which produced a tie game at 47 after three quarters, URI dominated the final frame with a 23 point outburst offensively. Freshman Catherine Cairns began the quarter with back-to-back 3-pt FG, and URI would go on to hit three more while also putting the clamps on Richmond defensively.

Coach Tammi Reiss will have a chance to get her team to 11 Atlantic 10 wins at 1pm on SUnday. The game can be viewed on YurView TV where available.
