Spotlight On: Children’s Museum of Western Virginia

On this segment of “Spotlight On”, we take a look at the upcoming Center in the Square Children’s Museum of Western Virginia. This venue, currently in the planning stage, will allow children to explore science, learn socialization skills, practice dexterity and have lots of fun.

Dr. Jim Sears from Center in the Square says the target age range will be toddler to 10 years old.  Currently there is not a children’s museum in the Roanoke area that targets this age range.  He says the Children’s Museum of Western Virginia will be a fun learning environment.

Among the activities at the new museum will be interactive play, classroom and party room, health dress up, drawing room, pinball ramp room, jungle gym, toddler play area and a town exhibit.

Sara Mackereth from Center in the Square likes that you won’t have to drive 40 miles to the nearest children’s museum.  The Children’s Museum of Western Virginia will be located in Roanoke, and all of the activities will be at one-location.
