The highly anticipated match-up between St. Thomas Aquinas of Florida and Arizona’s Centennial High was a true, defensive, standoff.
Both defensive squads held strong against long runs or passes with very few possessions ending in or near the end zones. Nearing the second half, Xavier Rojas slipped in a kick putting some points on the board. Rojas would be the only scorer in the game until the fourth quarter, chipping in 3 more points in the 3rd.
The Raiders had a hard time connecting with long passes, turning the ball over on interceptions several times. Rounding out the last moments of the game, Coyote Sr. RB Zidane Thomas ran for a 56-yard game clinching touchdown, the only TD of the game, earning Thomas the Player of the Game honors.
Centennial defeated the #3 Nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas, 12-0 giving the Coyote’s a 6-0 record.
Next week on YurView Arizona we’ll have Perry High School vs. Chandler.
