Desert Vista vs Mountain Pointe

Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe will renew their rivalry in one of the most exciting games of this Friday night. Mountain Pointe has won the last four matchups in the series, but there could be a “changing of the guard” this Friday.

The game will be broadcast live on Yurview Arizona for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.

Reversing Roles

Desert Vista played Mountain Pointe tough last season, but Mountain Pointe beat its rival for a fourth straight time, 21-16. Mountain Pointe went 10-3 on its way to a semifinals appearance in the 6A Conference playoffs a year ago while Desert Vista finished at 5-5.

But things are leaning in the opposite direction this fall. Desert Vista comes into this Friday with a 5-1 record while Mountain Pointe sits at 3-3. Desert Vista won its first four games of the season before losing to Highland on Sept. 21. They knocked off Desert Ridge last week, 27-3.

Mountain Pointe has been rather inconsistent, alternating wins and losses all season. Last week, they beat Highland, 48-27. Perhaps that’s a good sign for Mountain Pointe, though, as they just defeated the only team that has edged Desert Vista this season.

Desert Vista last beat Mountain Pointe, 28-14, in 2013.
