Pool Season is in full effect - credit Golden Nugget

While the heat wave of mid-summer record-breaking temperatures is behind us, September is still a hot month here on the Ninth Island. September temps are typically in the 90s during the day, which means those Vegas pools are still packed. At night, you can expect significant drops in temperature to as low as mid-50s overnight, so be sure to bring a light jacket.

One long-awaited attraction that opens at the end of September, and it cannot be missed…literally, is The Sphere. Sphere has been lighting up the Strip with its uniquely Vegas images for the last couple of months.

The venue will host its first event, which will be the greatly anticipated U2 concert on September 29th, in which the band will play their entire Achtung Baby album.  The Sphere has 81,300 square meters of outdoor surface area and 54,000 of these square meters are LED’s, creating the world’s largest LED wall.

In addition to concerts, Postcard from Earth, an immersive experience, will be open to the public beginning October 6th.  Check out www.spherelasvegas.com for more information.

Las Vegas Strip

If you tune into our weekly lives on our YouTube channel, you know that traffic in Vegas is horrendous!  With the re-paving project on and around the Strip for Formula 1 that’s taking place in November, there are multiple lane closures.  Many Rideshare drivers are trying to avoid the area altogether, due to the amount of time spent stuck in traffic. If you’re traveling up and down the Strip, the free trams, the Monorail or good old-fashioned walking may be your fastest ways to get around the Strip.

Allegiant Stadium

Now in addition to the road construction traffic, be prepared for a busy fall! There are tons of events and of course, Raiders Football is back, along with pre-season hockey! And then there are all of the popular festivals.  The Exodus Festival Las Vegas continues, running August 31st-September 3rd, and Westgate will be home to the Big Blues Bender September 710th.

Free concerts on Fremont Street Experience continue in September

Now for some reason every year, Las Vegas has two of the largest music festivals at the same time.  In Downtown, you’ll find Life is Beautiful, which will be held at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds September 22-24th.  This 3-day festival features headliners like The Killers, Kendrick Lamar, Khalid and Bebe Rexha, just to name a few.  There are several street closures in the Downtown area during this event timeframe, so expect traffic jams, longer waits and higher prices for Rideshare. Check out www.lifeisbeautiful.com for more information.

T-Mobile Arena

And then on the Strip there’s the iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena September 22-23rd, featuring all genres of music.  Some of the headliners announced include Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Tim McGraw, Lil Wayne and Miguel, again just to name a few. Check out www.iheart.com for more information. As stated earlier, traffic is already a mess, so keep that in mind. The most walkable properties on the Strip near T-Mobile Arena would be Park MGM, NYNY, MGM Grand and Excalibur.  Don’t forget, there is also the FREE tram that travels between Bellagio, Vdara, Aria and Park MGM.

September 15th also kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs through October 15th. There are several events being held in celebration of the Hispanic Culture throughout the Vegas Valley, as well as a large influx of popular Latin Musicians. The Fiestas Patrias Mexicanas (Mexican Independence Day Festival) will take place September 15-16th. On the 15th the festivities will be held at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza and on the 16th at Gary Reese Freedom Park.  Visit www.lasvegasnevada.gov for more information on all of the festivities.

In addition to these festivals, there are tons of events in September.
