Rhode Island vs Creighton an Intriguing First Round Matchup

Dan Hurley URI

The Rhode Island Rams punched their first ticket to the NCAA Tournament since 1999 by winning the Atlantic 10 Championship on Sunday. Creighton is coming off a strong showing in the Big East Tournament, where they lost to Villanova in that conference’s Championship game.

Creighton has been a different team since losing point guard Mo Watson in January, but their strong Madison Square Garden run had to give them some confidence. Meanwhile the Rams haven’t lost in a month…seriously. Their physicality with Hassan Martin and scoring punch of E.C. Matthews and Jared Terrell have them playing their best basketball at the most critical time of year.

With both teams playing well, what’s going to give on Friday in Sacramento? YurView analysts Mark Ewing and Chris DiSano weigh in on whether Justin Patton and the Bluejays will be able to match URI’s toughness on Dash to the Desert.
