Bears Come up Short Against Thunder

The Bears of Basha High School fought hard to protect their turf, but ended up losing to the Desert Vista Thunder, 29-19.

The Thunder struck early in the first quarter with 2, unanswered, touchdowns by Jake White and Austin Werbelow but missing out on the extra points after both. After regrouping in some timeouts, Desert Vista connected yet another touchdown from Derek Kline to Dominic Shepardson before the Bears even saw their end zone. Just when Thunder fans started to get comfortable, Collin Collins of the Bears muscled down the field twice to Ty Siffermann and Jett Campbell, inching the score closer at 19-13.

DVHS did not waste much time before regaining a comfortable lead at 29 thanks to Keishaud White and kicker Matt Lewis, but the Bears still had some gas left in the tank. With just minutes left in the 4th, Basha slipped in 6 more points from Jaylyn Goodman, but were unable to manage more before the buzzer sounded.
