Formula 1 Construction

Well, it is officially fall here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas, which does mean the seasonal pools will be closing. While there is no official date, seasonal pool closures do happen throughout the month of October based on both staffing and weather. Speaking of weather, the average temperature during the day is in the low 80’s; however, the daily highs can get into the high 90’s, as well as dip into the low 70’s. Overnight it does cool down quite a bit, dropping down to upper 50’s to upper 60’s, but it can even dip into the 40’s. You certainly want to bring a light jacket or sweater, and if you suffer from allergies, you will want to start your allergy medication before coming to Vegas, as October tends to kick off the fall allergy season.

While the Las Vegas Grand Prix does not take place until the end of November, they do start the Formula 1 construction in September. This means that track lighting is going up on the Strip, grandstands are being built in front of the Bellagio Fountains and overpasses are being built. This causes traffic with the lane closures and unfortunately interferes with some of the iconic views of the Strip that visitors hope to see.

On a positive note, several Casino Properties have recently launched some drink deals! We all know that aside from the “free drinks” while gambling, getting a cocktail on the Strip can be quite costly, so we are happy to see the following specials:

  • The Linq Hotel & Casino and Horseshoe have $5 drafts at all of their bars
  • Westgate Las Vegas is offering all you can drink Bloody Mary’s for $9.99 and $14 loaded Bloody Mary’s at Sid’s
  • Main Street Station is offering a free beer at Triple 7’s if you show them a screen shot of their Instagram post, along with a Nevada ID
Superkarts at Speed Vegas

October is the perfect month for spending time outdoors in the Vegas Valley, whether it be hiking or enjoying a cocktail on the many outdoor dining patios on The Strip, Downtown and the Arts DistrictOne outdoor attraction for the thrill seekers is located approximately 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. SPEED VEGAS offers an adrenaline rush through a variety of experiences, including off road driving, driving exotic supercars on a racetrack, drifting and racing go karts. We recently had the opportunity to hit the track here, driving a Porche and a Ferrari, as well as “drifting” with a professional driver who gave us quite the thrilling ride on the track in a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that was wrapped to look like a police car. We calmed our nerves afterwards with some laps around the go kart track on their Superkarts. This is certainly one of the most exhilarating attractions in Las Vegas and something uniquely Vegas to add to your must-do list! For more information visit www.speedvegas.com
