The 14th Annual MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl between the Jenks Trojans and the Union Redskins will be Thursday, September 7, at 7:30 p.m.The game will be held at the University of Tulsa’s Skelly Field at H. A. Chapman Stadium. As the exclusive presenting sponsor, MidFirst Bank will contribute $14,000 for educational priorities and scholarships at each high school.

“The MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl has become an Oklahoma high school football tradition,” said Scott Stidham, MidFirst Bank Tulsa market president. “Our commitment to serving the Tulsa community is enriched by being able to support the educational programs of both schools through this great high school football rivalry. We are proud to have been involved with the MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl for 14 years, and look forward to many more.”

Allan Trimble has been the Jenks head coach since 1996 and he appreciates the support for both schools. “It’s great that the MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl benefits all students at both schools. I am proud to be a part of this great rivalry and to be able to give back to the school with the great support of a community partner like MidFirst Bank.”

Union head coach Kirk Fridrich echoes the sentiments of his counterpart. “With so much focus placed on the outcome of the contest on the field, it’s important to recognize the considerable contribution MidFirst Bank is providing both schools. Our program is proud to participate in a game that is able to give back to our school in such a positive way.”

In addition to the game, the MidFirst Bank Fundraising Van will be parked inside the stadium raising money for the Union Leadership Booster Club and the Jenks softball program. The Fundraising Van contains two coin-counting machines and fans are encouraged to bring coins to donate. In addition to funds raised by each group, MidFirst Bank will match up to $500 for each organization. General admission tickets for the game can be purchased at all MidFirst banking centers. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Children kindergarten age and under are admitted free.

Reserved and general admission tickets will also be sold at the Union – UMAC Ticket Booth and at the Jenks Sharp Center Athletic Office, 3rd Floor. The MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl is the Ford Game of the Week and will air live on Cox Channel 703 and streaming on yurview.com.
