Midwest City Outlasts Sapulpa 56-35 in High Scoring Affair

The Midwest City Bombers hosted the Sapulpa Chieftains in the opening round of the Oklahoma 6A-II playoffs.  Both teams combined for nearly 100 points, but the Bombers outlasted the Chieftains 56-35.

In the first quarter, Midwest City takes the early 7-0 lead on a 13 yard TD pass from Preston Colbert to Dylan Sebock. The Bombers made it 14-0 on a 25 TD run by Preston Colbert.

Sapulpa cuts the leads to 14-7 on a Te’zohn Taft 12 Yard touchdown run. Midwest City comes right back on a Preston Colbert 50 Yard touchdown pass to Kobe Washington to make it 21-7.  Sapulpa scored at the end of the first quarter to cut the lead to 21-14.

In the second quarter, Sapulpa scored to tie the game 21-21. Midwest City scored consecutive touchdowns on a 55-yard pass from Preston Colbert to Dylan Sebock and a 4-yard TD run to give the Bombers a 35-21 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Sapulpa’s Eli Williams scores on a 1 Yd TD run to pull Sapulpa within one touchdown, but Midwest City scored on a Preston Colbert 9 Yd TD pass to Kobe Washington to make it 42-28.

Sapulpa wouldn’t go away and scored on a TD run to cut the lead to 7.  However, that would be the last time the Chieftains would score and the Bombers added 2 more TD’s to win the game 56-35.

Sapulpa ends the season with a 7-4 record.  Midwest City goes to 8-2 and will play Bixby in round two of the OSSAA 6A-II playoffs.
