The Sand Springs Lady Sandites thumped the Union Lady Redskins 71-54 Tuesday at Sandite Fieldhouse.
Sand Springs guard Holly Kersgieter led her team with 29 points. Shooting guard Destiny Johnson finished the night with 25 points.
The Lady Sandites (7-0 overall) led the game from the get-go and never let up from the throttle.
“I was really proud of my girls tonight,” Sand Springs head coach Dustin Morrow said. “We keep reinforcing with the team, telling them to play the right way, defend, get in the passing lanes and play hard. If they do all of that, good things are going to happen the way we run the floor.”
Sadie Moyer led the Lady Redskins (2-3 overall) with 24 points.
Union hands Sandites first loss of season
The Union Redskins pulled off a comeback against the Sand Springs Sandites to hand them their first loss of the season in 60-45 win Tuesday.
The Redskins (4-1 overall) were led by senior Mo Garcia, who led his team with 21 points.
Trailing 24-21 at halftime, Union gained the lead when Garcia landed a 2-point shot to make it 30-29 with five minutes left in the third.
The Redskins extended their lead and never looked back.
“I think people figured that we were going to be down a little bit with these seniors,” Union head coach Rudy Garcia said. “At halftime, we challenged our guys because we felt we didn’t play the best ball in the first half. We were a little lethargic, but they came out in the second half and played like they’ve been playing, which is great basketball, and we pulled off the win.”
Davon Richardson led the Sandites (3-1) with 12 points.
