Broken Arrow Snaps Westmoore’s Winning Streak

The Broken Arrow Tigers handed the Westmoore Jaguars their first loss of the season with a 41-7 win Friday night at Moore Schools Stadium.

The class 6A-1 District 1 Tigers (2-4 overall, 2-1 in district) were led by junior running back Noah Cortès, who finished the night with 219 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

“Tonight we played great,” Cortès said. “I trusted my offensive line and hitting the holes hard. I knew Westmoore’s front seven couldn’t stop us. I watched film all week, studying them and I knew them like the back of my hand.”

It was all Broken Arrow, who led 41-0 heading into the fourth quarter. The Jaguars’ (5-1, 1-1) only score came late in the fourth when senior quarterback Braxton Bohrofen connected with senior wide receiver Damoriea Vick for a 1-yard touchdown.

Bohrofen finished the night with 157 passing yards. Broken Arrow’s defense sealed the win up for the Tigers. They held Jaguars running back Braxton George, who was averaging 11 yards per game heading into Friday’s matchup against the Tigers, to 44 total rushing yards.

“Tonight we were physical, finishing plays and making big plays on defense,” Broken Arrow head coach David Alexander said. “I loved the way we played tonight. Our defense made big plays. They didn’t allow Westmoore to run and when you make a team one-dimensional, I like our chances.”

Broken Arrow’s Damian Everette had a big game, intercepting Bohrofen three times. The Tigers saw scores from Corben Chambers, Kejuan Tolbert and Kaizer Newell.

The Tigers will host Edmond Santa Fe (4-2, 2-0) Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m.

The Jaguars will look to bounce back when they travel to Norman to take on the Norman Tigers (0-6, 0-3) Thursday, October 12 at 7 p.m.
