Westmoore vs Broken Arrow

Westmoore and Broken Arrow each lost in the first round of the Class 6A-I playoffs last season, but both programs have their sights set on much bigger things in 2018.

The two programs have combined to post a 9-1 record through the first five games and hope to continue their fast start this Friday.

The Ford Game of the Week will be broadcast live on Yurview Oklahoma for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.

Championship Preview?

Broken Arrow hovered around the .500 mark in 2016 and 2017 after losing to Jenks in the 2015 state championship game. This season, they are back in the title hunt, having started this year 5-0.

Broken Arrow’s perfect record is no fluke either. They opened the season with a dominating 33-10 victory over Union. Then in September, Broken Arrow earned back-to-back wins against defending champion Owasso and Jenks. Broken Arrow beat those three powerhouses by a combined score of 108-43.

Westmoore’s schedule hasn’t been as tough, but they have some dominating performances as well. Outside of its one loss, Westmoore hasn’t had a game decided by less than 15 points. Last week, they knocked off Edmond Memorial, 37-6.

The way these two are playing, no one would be surprised if they met again during the playoffs.

Players to Watch

OLB Zach Marcheselli – Broken Arrow

The Broken Arrow defense is loaded with talent, and it starts with this senior linebacker. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Marcheselli is a 3-star prospect and the No. 9 Oklahoma recruit in the 2019 class according to 247Sports.

He committed to TCU in June.

DT Demeco Roland – Broken Arrow

The No. 24 Oklahoma recruit in the 2019 class, Roland clogs the middle for the Broken Arrow defense. At 282 pounds, few do it better in Oklahoma. Scouts consider him a Top 125 defensive tackle in the country.

Roland committed to North Texas in July.

OT Andrew Raym – Broken Arrow

As impressive as those seniors are, Broken Arrow has even better junior recruits. 247Sports classified Raym as a 4-star prospect and the No. 1 Oklahoma recruit in the 2020 class.

He has reportedly received offers from the top programs around the country, including Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn and many others.

CB Myles Slusher – Broken Arrow

The 4-star cornerback is the No. 2 2020 prospect in Oklahoma just behind Raym. At 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, Slusher lacks size, but that hasn’t stopped him from drawing interest from the top programs nationwide.

Slusher possesses offers from 10 schools, including Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma State, Oregon and a few other Power 5 programs.

DL Nikale Davis – Westmoore

Broken Arrow has talent all over the field, but Westmoore isn’t too shabby either. Davis is the sixth-best Oklahoma prospect in the 2020 class and has reportedly received an offer from Memphis. He’s also had some interest from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

OL Layne Grantham – Westmoore

247Sports considers Grantham the best Westmoore recruit in the 2019 class. He has received offers from Army, Utah State and Ohio.
