Booker T. Washington’s First-Round Playoff Victory Against Del City (27-8)

Booker T. Washington is headed to the semifinals after a 27-8 win over Del City Friday night in the Class 6AII quarterfinals.

Booker T running back, Thomas Grayson, scored on a 99-yard touchdown run and finished the game with 300 yards rushing on 24 carries, including 232 in the second half.

Booker T starting quarterback, Gentry Williams, left the game late in the first quarter because of an apparent rib injury. Dwight Hamilton replaced him and finished 2-of-9 passing for 17 yards and an interception but threw a touchdown pass late in the game.

Michigan commit Dax Hill broke open down the middle on the Hornets’ first offensive play and Williams completed a 56-yard touchdown to him with 10:22 left in the first quarter.

Del City wide receiver Jeff Foreman, who is committed to Arkansas State, made an awesome spin move against the Hornets’ defense and ran down the sideline for a 70-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Quinlan Ganther.

Ganther followed with a two-point conversion run, and Del City took an 8-7 lead going into halftime.

The Hornets made a come-back in the second half and led again late in the third quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run by fullback Aryion Welch.
