The Class 5A No. 1 Tulsa Memorial Chargers were no match for the No. 5 Booker T. Washington Hornets as Chargers won 60-51 at the High School Hoops Showcase at the BOK Center Saturday night.
Chargers power forward Kalib Boone finished the night with a game-high 26 points. Tulsa Memorial (21-2) was looking to rebound after losing to the Hornets (14-6) 71-68 in overtime four days ago.
Bryce Thompson finished with 16 points for the Hornets.
“I think it says a lot about a team on how they handle a loss,” Memorial head coach Bobby Allison said. “We don’t lose much, but the loses that we have had, we have learned from them – we don’t lose we learn and it shows character from this group.”
The Tulsa Memorial seniors set a record with most wins in a regular season (21).
“In the loss (on Tuesday) against the Hornets, I didn’t play to my fullest potential and I had to bounce back,” Kalib Boone said. “I wanted to go out there and help my team break the school record for most wins in the regular season and we were able to do that.”
The Chargers will play their first-round playoff game Friday, February 23 against Durant.
