Did you know that Hampton Roads Transit has a rideshare program?!
Patricia found herself in Town Center of Virginia Beach doing some shopping, when she wanted to head somewhere else- so she took full advantage.
It’s called “on demand ridesharing,” which combines the reliability of public transportation- but with the flexibility of ridesharing!
All you have to do to partake- is download the Hampton Roads Transit OnDemand app, and request a ride.
One of the biggest advantages to this program is that it only costs $2 per ride, which is the same fare as other HRT modes of public transportation.
Since it’s a pilot program, it’s only available in certain zones (for now!). You can find out if you’re in one of the zones in the app.
The program is a solution from HRT for the people who don’t want a car, don’t own a car, or are maybe a mile or two from their local transit station.
When you need a ride, it typically takes less than 15 minutes for someone to pick you up.
