Southern Lab vs. University Lab Football 9-7-18

The Southern Lab Kittens and the University Lab Cubs battled on the field on Friday in what has become one the biggest rivalries in Louisiana high school football.

University Lab was first on the board as senior running back, Mike Hollins, broke loose for a 47-Yard TD run. At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, the Cubs found the end zone again as senior quarterback John Gordon McKernan found senior wide receiver, Makiya Tongue (University of Georgia commit) on a 42 Yard TD pass.

With 2:59 remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Kittens finally found the end zone as senior running back Charvis Thorton scampered 21 yards on a pass from quarterback Travon Myles. Southern Lab did not score again until late in the 4thQuarter.

Two bright spots for Southern Lab were senior running back Tyrion Davis and senior offensive lineman Kardell Thomas (both LSU commits) showed why they are highly sought after by colleges across the country.

The U-High Cubs, on the other hand, scored early and often, finding the end zone 5 times on the night, and dominated just about every aspect of the game. The Cubs ended the night with 377 total yards opposed to 216 total yards for Southern Lab.

Without question, the night belonged to the University Lab Cubs who captured an impressive 42-14 victory and bragging rights between the two lab schools… at least until this time next season.
