Live Oak vs West Feliciana

Live Oak and West Feliciana will renew their series in what is quickly becoming a top rivalry in Louisiana. This September, Live Oak will host in what they hope will be the program’s first recent victory against last year’s Class 3A champions.

The game will be broadcast live on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.

Too Close to Call

These programs have played each of the last three years, and while West Feliciana has emerged victorious each time, a combined 10 points decided the three contests. On two occasions, West Feliciana won by a single point, including last season’s matchup, 22-21.

West Feliciana experienced a magical season last year, going 16-1 on its way to the program’s first state title. They are 1-1 to begin 2018. Live Oak made the Class 5A quarterfinals a year ago and are 2-0 to start this season.

Players to Watch

WR Khiry Morrison – West Feliciana

Starring on both offense and defense, Morrison is a Top 50 recruit in Louisiana and will be the top rated prospect in this game. Through two weeks, he has recorded 149 receiving yards, a touchdown and 3.0 tackles, including one for a loss.

Morrison committed to LA Tech in June.

RB Kee Hawkins – Live Oak

Live Oak features a plethora of runners in its offensive backfield, including this junior. A first-team All-Parish and second-team All-District selection, Hawkins rushed for 305 yards in three 2017 playoff games. He finished last season with 11 touchdowns.

Hawkins will share the running back duties with Hagen Long and Rhett Rosevear. Many consider Long one of the toughest running backs in the state, and Rosevear is back from taking a year off to play baseball.
